When you’re stuck in the monotony of day-to-day work, and your time seems zapped by admin, creative inspiration can be hard to come by. Due to this we can feel easily lack lustre!
As entrepreneurs, we need our ‘creativity cup’ to be regularly topped up in order to keep our ideas evolving and our businesses dynamic.
We all know that creativity can’t be forced but there are a few easy-going habits and switches I suggest to clients to aid in replenishing inspiration!
Step to it!
Make sure to get some fresh air daily and head out for a walk or two. Mix up the route, and try to stay off your phone. Look around with curiosity. If you’re walking in your neighborhood, try and spot something new each time you’re out.
Whatsmore, carry an ideas notebook with you for fleeting thoughts and speedy sketches.
Listen up
We can get stuck in a comfort rut of our favourite listens, but I recommend seeking out a new podcast every single week. There are so many out there to tune into! Listening to something new will bring a fresh perspective and might open up some ideas too.
Avid Insta scroller? Yeah, I get it. Switch out a long-ass scrolling session on Instagram for a quick perusal of Pinterest. You’re way less likely to get drawn in for an extended time, and chances are you’ll pick up a few ideas to get you going.
Read outside your niche
Ever feel like you’re consuming a lot of same-y reading? It’s time to mix it up and aim to read some books that aren’t in your industry niche. I find the best way to do this is to head down to your local independent bookshop or library and browse IRL. See what stands out. What feels like something a little different. Even read something written for a completely different industry and see what lessons and fresh takes you can find.
Change your scenery!
Staring at the same four walls each day will drain your creative energy quickly. Work in an accommodating coffee shop or book a coworking space for a morning or afternoon. You might even make a connection with someone new.
